There is a line with “Pion’s flame/was doused in fear of error”, I think this represents Hamlet’s mind state. His father died, and he has to do something for avenging his father. But, this line shows Hamlet is not making a decision. His action solved nothing, and it only made the situation worse like pion’s flame is gone. For the poet’s life, since he was in the prison, he could have no idea what he is going to do. It would be like pion’s flame/was doused in fear of error.
