Why will mt transmission only go in reverse?

i was driving on the freeway when i exit and came to stop everything was fine when i started to go my car when about 200ft and it kicked out of gear and it was like i was in neutral and now itb only goes in reverse and neutral, overdrive, drive, 2 and 1 will not engage can some one give me some advice.
